S/Y NINNA is a VIA 52, built at the French shipyard Chantiers Maritimes de Paimpol et Fécamp and designed by the renowned designer Jean-Louis Noir. The hull was constructed in 1984, but the boat was not completed until the year 2000, meaning much of the equipment and installations are newer than the construction year suggests. Commissioned in October 2000.
She has had only two owners and is now seeking her third – someone with the ambition to explore the world under sail. VIA 52 is designed for long-distance cruising and ocean crossings, with a focus on strength, seaworthiness, and long-term self-sufficiency.
The hull is constructed from marine-grade aluminum (AG4MC/5083) with a 12 mm bottom, 6 mm sides, and 5 mm deck, providing an extremely robust structure. Together with five watertight bulkheads, this offers a very high level of safety. Thanks to the hydraulic centerboard, the boat combines a minimum draft (1.1 m) – perfect for shallow waters and anchoring close to shore – with a full draft of 3.3 m for optimal performance and stability at sea. The rigging is from 2019 and built in extra heavy-duty dimensions for maximum safety and strength during long-distance cruising.
Together with well-maintained sails, dual rudders, and a proven rig design, this makes NINNA strong and flexible in all conditions. Onboard, there is everything for a comfortable life at sea: three cabins with a total of eight berths, two toilets with showers, a washing machine, a well-equipped galley, and a bright, inviting saloon. For climate comfort, there is both a modern diesel heater and a portable AC unit that can be used in port in tropical environments.
Autonomy is at the center. With 1,100 W solar panels, a large AGM battery bank, dual engines with generators, an inverter, and a backup generator, S/Y NINNA has a very strong and modern energy system for long-term off-grid living. Along with 1,000-liter water tanks and a watermaker, she is built for self-sufficiency during long passages.
In short: S/Y NINNA is not just a yacht – she is a safe and reliable expedition vessel, ready to take her next owner on secure and comfortable journeys across the world’s oceans.
With twin engines and recently refurbished gearboxes, S/Y NINNA offers reliable and strong propulsion, even under challenging conditions. The engines are well-maintained and positioned for ease of service, with modern charging and renewed auxiliary equipment.
The navigation was fully upgraded in 2022 with a complete Garmin system. With radar, AIS, autopilot, and backup instruments, there is full redundancy for ocean sailing. Everything is installed with modern ergonomics and clear overview both at the navigation table and in the cockpit.
The interior is bright and inviting with elm wood and an open layout. Three cabins accommodate eight berths, and the generous owner’s cabin at the bow is complemented by two double cabins aft. Two toilets, showers, a washing machine, and a well-equipped galley make life on board comfortable even on long voyages. The boat is built to operate in all climates. Insulation with 50 mm Armaflex keeps the warmth in winter and cools in the tropics. A diesel heater and sun protection are complemented by a portable AC unit for marina environments in hot climates.
