Designed by the legendary German Frers and built by Nautor Swan in Finland, Adrienne II was delivered in 1983 as one of the extended versions of the Swan 651 — a total of 70 feet long. She represents the classic Swan era where uncompromising quality, long-distance comfort, and strong sailing characteristics were paramount.
The additional five feet provide the boat with an unusually generous aft deck featuring large social areas, ample space for seating arrangements, and significant extra storage for equipment and long-distance sailing. The center cockpit layout also creates a safe and sheltered cockpit while offering a well-planned interior with a separate owner’s cabin aft, multiple guest cabins, and excellent opportunities for both family sailing and sailing with a crew.
The salon offers large social areas with the classic Swan feel in high-gloss teak, while the practical passage between the galley and salon makes the boat well-suited for extended stays on board. The combination of large social spaces, extensive tank capacity, and many berths makes Adrienne II a very capable yacht for long passages and comfortable living on board.
Over the years, the boat has been extensively upgraded. Among the most significant improvements are the custom-designed bulb keel by Lars Ström and the carbon fiber mast from Nordic Mast installed in 2003. This combination provided the boat with reduced weight, improved stability, and significantly enhanced sailing performance. Additionally, the bulb keel integrates a freshwater tank of approximately 1,400 liters, which enabled a total fuel capacity of about 2,000 liters — ideal for long-distance sailing with a high degree of self-sufficiency.
The rig and sail plan have also been continuously modernized in recent years. The rod rigging was replaced in 2023 and supplemented in 2025 with new checkstays, runners, and topmast rigging. The Navtec hydraulics were overhauled in 2024, and the boat has also received new running rigging and a new furling system for the staysails.
The sail wardrobe is of a very high standard and includes a modern North Sails 3Di mainsail — one of the market’s most advanced and high-performing sails, representing a significant investment in both performance and long-term quality. Along with newer genoa, cutter staysails, Code 0, and several gennakers and spinnakers, Adrienne II offers an unusually attractive combination of classic Swan character, comfortable long-distance capability, and impressive sailing performance.
